About

HQ being Boise, Idaho, my playground ranges mostly in Idaho and Oregon. Being a private pilot, that range often gets expanded into Washington, Wyoming, Nevada, Montana, California, Utah, Montana, Minnesota, British Columbia, Yukon Territory and Alaska.

My interests are primarily in public land, resource and energy policy, flying, hiking, bicycling, (inflatable) kayaking, hot springing, RV’ing, and happy hours.

Travel, technology and REI have a way of making it into my wallet and out with the cash.

This blog contains a lot of random stuff that I wanted to get documented for sharing as well as my own personal reference when I’m away from home. There has been no attempt by me to publicize its existence other than sending people a link to answer questions for things I know that I have already documented. There is a steady stream of a handful of readers with occasional spikes from outside links. Every attempt is made to assimilate local behavior without spilling the beans about things that would become trashed in the public domain. With that in mind, you can consider these impressions to be par with “insider information”. My view of conservation somewhat mirrors John Muir’s in that I believe that the more people know about special places, the more respect and protection those places will get. So, feel free to share with appropriate audiences.

I’ll be writing this stuff as time permits when I re-visit my impressions either right away or later. The blog is intended to be an information resource for those sharing common interests rather than as a form of social networking. However, I will respond to comments and inquiries whenever possible, the only cost being a shared story or contribution of something of interest. Comments are edited only to the extent that they should add to the information rather than being idle chit-chat.
